Undergraduate



Student Wage Scale Requirements/Qualifications Hourly Rate
Novice No previous training or experience. Works under direct supervision of academic department. $10.00
Apprentice Completion of Level One Tutor Training: 5 hours of tutor training and 25 hours of supervised tutoring. Ability to work with moderate level of department supervision. $11.00
Associate Completion of Level Two Tutor Training: 10 hours of tutor training and 25 hours of supervised tutoring. Ability to work with minimal level of department supervision. $12.00

Graduate

Disclaimer and Guidelines for Current RIT Tutors and Supervisors:



  • This pay scale was designed for tutors working in the Bates Study Center for the Academic Support Center's Math Lab. We recommend that other RIT departments follow this pay scale, although it is not required.
  • The new system will NOT result in a reduction of pay for students currently hired at RIT as tutors.
  • Students with previous RIT tutoring experience may be entered into the new wage scale system at either the apprentice or associate levels.
  • Decision of the tutor’s current wage scale will be determined by the tutor's immediate supervisor.
  • To be entered into the Apprentice level, the tutor must have previous training equivalent to 5 hours of formal tutor training, and 25 hours of supervised tutoring experience.
  • To be entered into the Associate level, the tutor must have previous training equivalent to 10 hours of formal tutor training, and 50 hours of supervised tutoring experience.
