Assessment Project Proposal and Consultation

The Office of Assessment & Research for Student Affairs provides consultations to aid in the design, delivery, and reporting of assessment projects. Some projects can be administered online using Baseline services. Student Affairs staff who are interested in a consultation with the Office of Assessment & Research or who would like to use Baseline services to design and administer an assessment project should complete the online SA Assessment Project Proposal form.

Once submitted the form will be reviewed by Assessment and Research staff. The project coordinator will be contacted to schedule a consultation, if the project requires development, or with directions to submit the project to Baseline.

Though it is not necessary to develop a survey or assessment tool draft prior to submitting the form, please submit any drafts that you do have with your completed form.

Data Requests

RIT collects and utilizes student data from numerous sources. Since data is stored and managed by multiple university offices, Assessment & Research aids Student Affairs staff members in identifying appropriate data sources and accessing data for professional purposes. Please contact Assessment & Research to discuss your data needs. Primary sources of RIT data include:

Institutional Research Office

The office of Institutional Research supports institutional effectiveness and facilitates planning, assessment, policy analysis, and decision-making through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of institutional data. Student Affairs staff members should consult with A&R prior to submitting a request for data to Institutional Research.

National Student Surveys

RIT regularly administers several national surveys to gather information that will assist us in understanding the RIT student experience. Student affairs staff members may contact Assessment & Research to inquire about obtaining data from these surveys where appropriate.

National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

RIT , Division, and Unit Data

Data collected via university, division, and unit/department surveys might be available for use by Student Affairs staff members. In some cases Assessment & Research manages the data. Otherwise, we can help you to locate data sources and submit a request.
