Into the Roc
#RITStudentLife took a trip Into the Roc with the RIT Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement!
This trip, volunteers sorted through produce from the public market and placed it into two piles: usable and compost. Produce that is deemed usable is given to local shelters and produce for compost is given to local farms. "We do our best to ensure that no food is wasted and that it all goes inside the hungry bellies of people, animals, or our Mother Earth," says Flower City Pickers founder Khoury Humphrey.
Into the Roc is a new initiative, developed with the purpose of helping RIT students become engaged in the Rochester community through service and exploration.
