RIT Players Presents: The Addams Family
RIT Players hits the stage tonight for the first showing of The Addams Family. Never heard of The Addams Family? Here's a sneak peak at what the show is all about:
Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.
While you may learn quite a bit about each character when you attend one of the shows this weekend, you may not get a chance to learn a bit more about the RIT students who play those characters. Don't worry - we've got your back!
Chris Renninger, Sophomore Software Engineering Major
Hometown: Monticello, New York
Character: Uncle Fester
How have you connected with your Addams Family character? I connect to my character because it's a fun part that's a bit crazy and weird which i've always loved playing those parts because it's the most exciting part to play.
Favorite RIT Players Memory: My favorite players memory was when I first got into shows at RIT when I did the 24 hour show last year.
Hayley Briner, Junior Media Arts and Technology Major
Hometown: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
How have you connected with your Addams Family character? I relate to Wednesday because she acts tough on the outside, but on the inside she is just as fragile as everyone else, even though it may not seem that way at times.
Favorite RIT Players memory: Getting cast in this show!
Derek Gieraltowski, Sophomore Animation Major
Hometown: Prospect, Pennsylvania
How have you connected with your Addams Family character? Gomez is totally weird, right? Of course he is, but he still has a bunch of people who appreciate and love him anyway. I really relate to that.
Favorite RIT Players memory: Working with Abi Van Nostrand!
Don't miss your opportunity to see them in action this weekend! Escape the studying for a bit and catch one of the three live performances at Panara Theatre. All shows are free to students - talk about an awesome #RITStudentLife...
