RIT Students Feed Rochester
If you saw our last post, you’ll know that the RIT Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement (CLCE) hosted their very first annual Giving Tuesday: Hunger Project today in the Gordon Field House. RIT students and community members volunteered their time assembling bagged meals of jambalaya for the RIT FoodShare and local Foodlink.
We stopped by a little early to get a behind the scenes look and to talk to some student representatives from the event!
It started to get busy pretty quickly with some great tunes, solid assembly lines, and some really wonderful volunteers who you could clearly tell were having a blast! All students had to do was scan their student ID, grab a hairnet, and join a line!
As boxes were filled, bells and cheers rang out. Other volunteers carted away stacks of boxes that carry 20,000 meals that will be shared with local and international foodbanks!
A big thank you to everyone who volunteered at RIT’s first #GivingTuesday celebration!
