If you will be visiting the Red Barn for a class, team building activity, Open Rock Climbing, or for another program, please consider the following:
- The Red Barn is enclosed and will protect participants from wind and precipitation but the main floor is not heated. Please dress according to the temperature outside, being prepared for temperature changes.
- Wear clothing that is comfortable and allows for freedom of movement. Dressing in layers that can be added/removed is advised. Please do not wear sandals or other open-toed footwear. Dress clothing, skirts and large or dangling jewelry are not advised. We can offer areas of privacy for changing, but we have no changing rooms. Please come prepared.
- The Red Barn has electricity but no running water. A rented restroom facility with hand sanitizer, however, is available. We encourage you to bring your own beverages and snacks, if you wish.
- There is no smoking allowed in the vicinity of the Red Barn. If you wish to smoke, please do so across the parking lot from the barn and properly dispose of your buts when you are finished.
- If you are walking to the Red Barn from on campus, allow 15 minutes from the dorms and 10 minutes from the Student Union. Follow the walkway towards Crossroads and continue into the Riverknoll Apartments. The Red Barn will be on the right, behind the CIMS building.
A little bit about Challenge by Choice and our philosophy...
All programs offered by Interactive Adventures offer some degree of challenge. The nature and magnitude of this challenge varies with the type of program, level of challenge assumed by the participant and the design of that particular program.
- How much you are challenged is greatly up to you. Each activity offers a multitude of ways to participate and be involved. Your facilitator will promote a positive environment for you to step out of your "comfort zone" but what you do and how much will be your choice.
- Certain programs offer more flexibility than others. Wellness Activity Courses may contain a minimum level of physical challenge, for example. When creating a program for your particular group, however, our staff will consider carefully the make-up, goals, objectives and capabilities of your group members.
- One of our goals is to create a program that is challenging, but allows everyone in your group to be a participant. Our resources, experiences and skills are extensive and we will use all of our faculties to create a program that is engaging, inclusive and fun for all.
