FACEtime: Trail Maintenance

FACEtime facilitates face-to-face encounters that develop Friendships, a sense of Adventure, Connections with resources and meaningful Engagement. FACEtime programs are run by Interactive Adventures, RIT's outdoor education program. Trail Maintenance is a unique opportunity to help maintain the trails and natural resources we depend on for outdoor education and recreation. Enjoy the satisfaction of undertaking a service project in the wilderness while bonding with your fellow trip-mates. Learn how to choose proper gear, work together as a team, and care for the trail you are hiking on. Gain a basic knowledge of backpacking skills and equipment selection, learn how to work with trail organizations and trail maintenance projects, participate in trail clean-up and preservation, practice "Leave No Trace" camping/hiking ethics and begin to develop the most important friendships of your college career. The trip fee covers most backpacking/camping gear (including tents, sleeping bags, and backpacks). All group gear, transportation, and meals are provided. Participants must have proper backpacking footwear and clothing for the outdoors.
