Hike at Letchworth Park - Saturday, October 13th
(Letchworth is known as the 'Grand Canyon of the East') With
the Rochester International Council
Be ready by 10 AM. Bus leaves at 10:20am sharp from RIT in
front of SAU -- Return by 4:30 pm. Sign up in ISS required
by October 9 to arrange charter bus and lunch.
Sign up now ($5 cash or check) at RIT International Student
Services.
A bus will take us through the country side to visit the
spectacular canyon with three waterfalls. Enjoy a picnic in
the scenic park, good company, and a 1½ hour hike along
the rim of the canyon to the Middle Falls. Non-refundable
$5 charge required for bus and luncheon reservation. Last
year the bus filled, so reserve early.
Please wear sturdy shoes to hike as it is rocky and sometimes
wet; no high heels or loose sandals. Bring rain gear or an
umbrella in case of bad weather. We will go, rain or shine,
as the woods and the waterfalls are beautiful in any weather.

"Cyber Street Smart" Forum - Monday, October
1, 2007
I write to invite you to an exciting event this Monday, October
1st at 6:00 pm. Dr. Robert Manning, the Center for Consumer
Financial Services, and the New York Public Interest Research
Group (NYPIRG) will host a "Cyber Street Smart"
forum. The event will include a panel discussion featuring
Dr. Manning and Dr. Francesco from the Business School and
Dr. McQuade from Interdisciplinary Studies, along with a representative
from the Office of the New York State Attorney General. The
forum is apart of the statewide launch of the CyberStreetSmart.org,
an innovative, powerful new website to teach consumers how
to protect themselves against online frauds and scams.
The event will take place in Building 12 room 1135 in the
E. Philip Saunders College of Business Lecture Hall at 6:00
pm (park in the Eleanor Gleason Circle parking lot). Refreshments

The Center for Consumer Financial Services, directed by Dr.
Robert Manning, provides a unique consumer-industry perspective
of the profound changes in the retail banking industry and
their impact on American society at the individual, household,
community and national levels.
NYPIRG is a statewide, student directed, non-profit organization
that teaches students valuable skills while working on meaningful
campaigns around issues such as consumer protection, voter
mobilization, and environmental sustainability.

Square Dance at RIT President's Barn - Friday, September

This event is held at the home of RIT President William Destler.
Learn traditional American folk dance and celebrate a new
semester. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes to dance on a
wooden floor. Light refreshments. RIT students can sign up
in ISS for a ride. 7:00 - 10:00 pm.

Social Security
You may apply for a Social Security number this Saturday,
September 15th, 10am - 2pm,
Location: Clark A, B, C, SAU, Building #4.
IMPORTANT: F-1 students must first have a job on campus to
apply for the number. Please bring your hire form (from your
job supervisor) to ISS this week to obtain the required application
packet.
If you already dropped off your hire form at International
Student Services, you may pick up your completed packet on
Saturday from the ISS staff who will be in the Clark meeting
rooms.
Upcoming OPT Workshops
OPT authorizes you to work for one year in the U.S. in your
field of study. If you are interested in learning more about
the application requirements and timeline for applying, please
