Tiger Walk and Convocation

New students at RIT aren’t likely to ever forget their first full day on campus as they parade in the RIT Tiger Walk. Faculty and staff, dressed in RIT garb and armed with posters and noisemakers, will line the walkway leading to the Gordon Field House and Activities Center offering newcomers a rousing welcome as they arrive for New Student Convocation.

Convocation for New Students and Families is the official opening of the academic year. This ceremony formally welcomes students to the academic community. The program includes remarks by President William Destler, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jeremy Haefner, senior vice president for Student Affairs , Dr. Sandra Johnson, the Student Orientation Coordinators, the Student Government president, and a keynote address.
