Mission
The mission of the New Student Orientation Program is to ensure the successful transition of new undergraduate students and their families to the RIT community by providing programs, events and information that create a common experience and promote school spirit, connect students to each other, their college and academic program, and foster student learning and development, both in and out both in and out of the classroom.

  • Academic Partnerships
We partner with academic affairs to enhance academic learning outside the classroom by engaging students and families in college-based programming, social activities, and career understanding and growth.
  • Support
We foster campus life and well being by exposing or introducing students and families to the rich resources and services available on RIT’s campus.
  • Connection
The New Student Orientation staff plans and implements intentional program activities and events, as well as utilizing online technologies, that connect students and families to RIT faculty, staff and current students.  Our goal is to promote and encourage community spirit and appreciation for our diverse campus community.  Through our programs we foster a lifelong connection and affinity to the university.
  • Student Leadership
We provide opportunities for current RIT students to grow and develop by serving as orientation student leaders within orientation. .

Vision
We strive to engage new students and families in their transition to RIT. Through development, support and connection with the RIT community, the program promotes an exciting and diverse learning experience by helping students acclimate to and prepare for their collegiate opportunities at RIT.
