Family Orientation Dates: August 29-30, 2012
We appreciate the connection that families have with their students and with the university and we recognize the importance of providing an orientation that meets their needs. Our Family Orientation is held the Wednesday and Thursday before fall quarter classes start (it is optional of course). This program is separate from the students' orientation and includes an introduction by the senior vice president for Student Affairs, open houses, special sessions with RIT experts, a president's meet and mingle, dean's meetings, and our signature Convocation for New Students and Families.
We know and understand the critical role you play in the development of your student. Entering college for the first time or transferring from one school to another is an experience that induces both excitement and anxiety for students and families. We offer a session during Pre-Orientation and Family Orientation called RIT & You: Partners in Your Student's Success, which offers some tips on how you can be supportive and helpful through this transition and beyond. If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, we encourage you to read a version of RIT & You: Partners in Your Student's Success here.
As part of our school spiRIT celebration we will be selling orange RIT t-shirts for families to wear to Convocation. These t-shirts are only $5 each and all proceeds will go to RIT's Tiger Spirit Fund.
