The Breast Care Center is a source of pride for Rochester General, because it is a source of hope and comfort for over 500 patients each year. Our health system is committed to offering high quality care with compassion, and that is why it is important to us to provide both the latest in treatment options and a caring environment for our patients and their families.
The Breast Care Center has 14 physicians focused on cancer treatment including three full-time dedicated breast surgery specialists and 56 physicians who support the Center through private practice. Our surgeons are experienced in the latest onco-plastic surgery and resection techniques.
Each patient's case is reviewed by a multidisciplinary team comprised of surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, genetic counselors, research nurse representatives, and a social worker. The end result is a personalized, state-of-the-art treatment plan that utilizes modern techniques that may include Neoadjuvant Treatment (medication prior to surgery) and MammoSite (partial breast irradiation), which can reduce the length of treatment from weeks to days.
In each case, the course of treatment is specifically designed to support you and your loved ones throughout the challenges that follow your diagnosis.
