Title

  • Graduate Assistant for Residential Education

Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's degree

  • Enrolled in a graduate degree program at RIT.

  • Experience in residential life, student activities, Greek affairs, student government, or related area is highly desirable

  • American Sign Language skills or willingness to learn is preferred

Terms

  • 20 hours per week position, at least 15 of office hours

  • Must attend August Training for 2 weeks prior to the start of the academic year –approximately August 15-September 1.

  • Ten (10) month position, from August 13, 2007 through May 30, 2008

  • Renewable on an annual basis by mutual consent

Compensation

  • A One Bedroom Furnished Apartment.

  • Partial Meal plan-$600 debit per quarter

  • $5,000 stipend over 10 month period

Description
The Graduate Assistant for Residential Education will support the Undergraduate Residence Halls with programming and working with major student organizations. Some of the responsibilities of the graduate assistant will include but not be limited to:

  • Work with the Programming Assistants in their large scale programming efforts & Center wide initiatives.

  • Advise/Supervise RITchie’s: RHA’s late night student lounge/game room

  • Assist with RA Selection & Recruitment

  • Develop leadership training opportunities for RHA & Special Interest House members

Interview Day
Interviews for Graduate Assistantships will be conducted on April 11th, 2008 at RIT. If your skills and experiences indicate you are a potential candidate for any of our positions, you will be contacted to schedule an interview.
In-person interviews are strongly preferred; however, telephone interviews may be scheduled for those candidates who cannot travel to RIT.
