Dear Go to Girl,
I’m new to Rochester, where can I go to meet some cool new people?

Dear Hipster,
Things cool people do in Rochester? Spot Coffee downtown on East Avenue. is a good place to start. It’s open untill midnight Sunday through Thursday and untill 1 AM Friday and Saturday. Java’s downtown on Gibbs St. is also a good hang out place and they have the same hours as Spot. You can usually find a relaxed college crowd at either place late nights during the week.
Not in the mood for coffee?.. no problem! Tapas on St. Paul Street is a Spanish style restaurant that doubles as a nightclub after 9:30 PM for all you 21 and overs. On Thursday nights, there are basic salsa lessons from 9:30- 11 PM.
The Roost, located right here on West Henrietta Road is a country western restaurant that also doubles as a nightclub. They offer dance lessons Monday through Saturday at 7:30 PM for only $5 ($3 if you eat dinner before). Lesson include everything from country line dancing to swing.
Can’t leave campus?..no problem! There are a ton of things to do here at RIT any night of the week. Our very own Java Wally’s has games on Monday nights where you could win Java gift certificates or Open Mic night on Wednesdays. The College Activities Board (CAB) also sets up some pretty good events for us such as concerts, movie nights and standup comedy. Check out their website for upcoming events http://cab.rit.edu.
