This year will be RIT’s 6th annual Ally Week of events! Ally Week is traditionally a week that supports the GLBT community here at RIT and in the Rochester Area. This year, we are very excited to bring a week of events supporting the GLBT community, but also taking a more broad focus on general human rights.
 
Schedule of Events:
 
Drag Bingo
 10/13, 8pm, SDC 1300/1310
FREE!

What could be more fun than playing bingo, winning prizes, and watching professional drag queens perform…nothing! Our Drag Queens will answer candid questions throughout the show about their lives as Drag Queens and as everyday people.
 
Safe Zone Training
10/14, 8pm, SDC 1310
FREE!

Interested in learning and being trained to be come an Ally or be a better Ally for the GLBT community? Safe Zone is a program training individuals on how to be Allies for the GLBT community.
 
Human Rights Day
10/15, All Day, SAU Lobby & Kodak Quad
FREE!

Stop by tables in the SAU lobby between 11am – 1pm for information from different human rights focuses organizations on campus.
Also, stop by the Kodak Quad and check out our community art project – you can contribute to the art and let your own voice be heard!
Vigil, 5pm, Kodak Quad
There will be a brief vigil and moment of silence for all those who have suffered and are suffering from human rights violations.
 
Guest Speaker: TJ Leyden, “Turning Away From Hate”
10/16, 8pm, SDC 1300/1310
FREE!

A former neo-nazi and skin head, TJ Leyden, will share his experiences of his former life and how he turned away from the hate and violence to fight for human rights and social justice. For more info visit: www.strhatetalk.com
“I Am One: RIT Allies”
Will follow the speaker directly. Is a documentary created by RIT students exploring what it means to other students, administrators, faculty and staff on campus to be an Ally.
