New Staff in the Apartment Area!

Kathleen Schreier

New to the apartment area staff this year is Kathleen Schreier, area director for University Commons, Riverknoll, and Greek Circle. Kathleen supervises the Community Advocates who work with these complexes as well as the House Managers in Greek Circle. Kathleen is also a co-advisor for the Off Campus and Apartment Student Association (OCASA) overseeing Student Issues and Finance.

Prior to joining the Apartment Area, Kathleen worked in Residence Life as a Community Enrichment Coordinator (CEC) first for Fish Hall and then for floors 8-12 of Ellingson Hall. Kathleen has a BA in Journalism/Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University and a MSEd in Counselor Education from SUNY Brockport.

Kathleen is an alumnus of AmeriCorps, spending her first year out of college as a VISTA volunteer at Cape Cod Community College developing a Service Learning Program. Kathleen then moved to Rochester to participate in a national direct program at the Center for Youth Services. After two years in AmeriCorps, Kathleen came to RIT for the first time, as an advising assistant in the College of Liberal Arts. During that time, Kathleen also served as the assistant women’s volleyball coach. Kathleen finished her master’s degree while completing a graduate assistantship in Career Services at SUNY Brockport before coming back to RIT in 2007, joining the Residence Life team.

For fun, Kathleen can be found working out at the gym in the early mornings as well as running stadium stairs as part of the faculty/staff Better Me Boot Camp wellness class. She is also taking Horseback riding lessons this quarter at Liberty Stables through RIT. Kathleen loves to read and has been an obsessive fan of Twilight for a year and a half. On TV, Kathleen watches “How I Met Your Mother”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Big Bang Theory”, “True Blood”, and “Vampire Diaries”.
