Living In Community
The Apartment Area would like to bring your attention to the following Terms and Conditions of Housing policies/guidelines and ask that everyone be good roommates and neighbors. In a true community, people look out for each other. They are concerned with one another’s well-being and safety.- There are NO pets or animals, except fish and service animals, allowed in RIT housing. Their presence can cause personal safety concerns, allergy/wellness, and property damage issues. Housing Operations staff members inspect all apartments on a monthly basis and any evidence of pets is reported to the Residence Life Apartment Area for student conduct follow-up. Residents place their on-campus housing in jeopardy if found violating the pet policy.
- All trash/debris must be disposed of in the trash receptacles provided. Trash/debris may not be left in the common areas of the complex. Please be sure to bring your apartment’s trash to the dumpsters located throughout the apartment area complexes – it is not the responsibility of Housing Operations Facilities staff to do so. Trash left in lobbies or outside of apartments can encourage both pest and odor issues– please be respectful of your surrounding community.
- Smoking is prohibited in RIT housing, residential quads, and within 25 feet of any residential building. This includes balconies, lobbies, and front steps of apartments. Please be courteous of non-smoking roommates and neighbors – in order to be 25 feet from most buildings, this entails smoking in parking lots area, picnic/grill areas, or in the grassy common areas between buildings. Be sure to properly dispose of cigarette butts in trash receptacles as well.
