FreezeFest

Sleety. Slushy. Spectacular! These are our hopes as RIT nears its inaugural winter festival, FreezeFest, the weekend of February 5-7, 2010. Take a stroll past the new Campus Center and you’ll see just how excited the Center for Campus Life is to roll out this new initiative. Visit the front of the SAU every Friday between 12pm-2pm for exciting and FREE FreezeFest promotional items including gloves, lip balm, ice scrapers, long-sleeved tees and more!
The FreezeFest weekend will introduce a flurry of new events in addition to some well established campus activities. CAB’s Rail Jam kicks off the weekend’s festivities on Friday afternoon at the Tiger Statue. CAB will also be sponsoring acoustic musical acts in Java’s throughout the evening. Comedienne Kathy Griffin, star of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, has been scheduled Friday night as the weekend’s big entertainment event. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show— $17 for students with ID, $26 for faculty, staff and alumni and $41 for the general public— are for sale at the Gordon Field House box office.
Saturday’s awesome activities include 3-on-3 Outdoor Ice Hockey, Phi Delta Theta’s Snow Bowl, IVCF’s Snowfest, RHA & OCASA’s Igloo Building Contest, Alpha Epsilon Pi’s Cardboard Derby, IVCF Bonfire, Global Union’s Unification, CAB’s Ice Disco, and Student Government’s S’more Lounge. A live ice carving demonstration will take place in front of the Campus Center Saturday afternoon which will be followed by the Grand Opening of the Campus Center and Student Affairs’ Chili Cook-Off and Dessert Bake-Off!
Sunday’s freezetastic events include a 5k Walk/Run sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and Residence Life. The weekend will conclude with Student Government’s Super Bowl Party in the Gordon Field House. In addition to carriage rides across campus and more free giveaways during the weekend, this is a festival not to be missed!
