Get The Top 5 Skills Employers Want

by: Gwen Van Laeken, Assistant to the Director – RIT Leadership Institute and Community Service Center

There’s little doubt that RIT graduates are extremely strong contenders in the job market.  RIT is known for producing hard working technically competent graduates.  But it may surprise you to know that employers consistently rank leadership and communication skills in the top five skills they seek in new hires.  Communication skills, ethical decision making skills, interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and teamwork abilities are key to ensuring long term career success.

The RIT Leadership Institute and Community Service Center (RLI & CSC) offers easy and effective leadership training workshops, retreats, service programs, and conferences where students from all disciplines can hone their leadership skills.  Students can drop-in to a single workshop or complete a Leadership Certificate program.  Check out www.rit.edu/lead to find workshop and event dates or stop by the office in the new Campus Center suite 1030.  Drop-in! Learn! Lead! Advance!
