Greek Circle At Charters Way Celebrates It's 10th Anniversary

by: Sharon Kompalla, Associate Director - Center for Residence Life Apartment Area

On Friday, October 14th, 2011, despite rain and cool temperatures, the Center for Residence Life in conjunction with Student Auxiliary Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Student Government, celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Greek Circle at Charters Way.  The event, put together by the Greek Circle House Managers and the Greek Circle Community Advocate, consisted of a light meal of pulled pork, portabella mushroom caps, salt potatoes and macaroni salad which was moved indoors due to the inclement weather.  Each of the five fraternity and sorority chapter houses were open for tours which many RIT students, staff and alumni took advantage of, and there was  music provided by Phi Kappa Tau brother and DJ, Michael Richos.

Even though the weather was not ideal, approximately 75-100 students stopped by the Apartment Area West office to enjoy the food and music in celebration of this exciting milestone for the Greek Community.  A commemorative t-shirt has been created to mark the anniversary and will be sold throughout the rest of this academic year.  Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be collected into an "Anniversary Philanthropy Fund" and five donations will be made to a philanthropy chosen by the following chapters: Phi Kappa Tau, Delta Phi Epsilon, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Phi Kappa Psi, and Alpha Xi Delta.  The t-shirt design was created by Alpha Xi Delta sister, Sarah Proper.  If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, please contact any one of the Greek Circle House Managers - Drazen Gasic, Lindsay Randall, Jon Becker, Nicholas Bucci, or Noelle Corrado or Greek Circle Community Advocate, Scott Howard (schrla@rit.edu).

Thank you to all who made this event a reality, and a special thank you to Karla Orozco, Manager of the Global Village Cantina and Grille!
