Living on campus you will find there are many opportunities to amplify your academic experience from getting involved, taking the lead, or having fun. You will be surrounded by students from across the country and around the world – make the most your learning and living opportunities!
RITchie’s, run by the Residence Halls Association (RHA), offers students a fun place to hang out and watch widescreen TV, play billiards, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, PS2, and Xbox 360. RITchie’s staff work with other groups and departments on campus to promote various programs, such as the ever popular Free Laundry Night and pizza socials for residents. RITchie’s is located in the tunnels in Gibson Hall and is open until 2am during the week and 3am on the weekends.
Residence Halls Association (RHA)

Special Interest Housing
Special Interest Housing consists of seven student run communities. Each SIH has a focus, be it social, cultural or academic. The primary objective of each SIH is to enhance academic and college life through social events, extracurricular projects, and other enriching activities.Close Section

- Computer Science House
- Engineering House
- House of General Science
- International House
- Photo House
- Unity House
Each SIH resides on their own floor in the residence halls, however, the community extends to off-floor members. These members may live anywhere on or off RIT's campus and they are entitled to the same benefits and are held to the same responsibilities as an on-floor member.Close Section
There is way more to Special Interest Houses than studying. While academics are a key part of Special Interest Housing, socializing and being an active member is very important as well.Close Section
Each SIH has varying amounts of dues. They range from $45 to $105 per year. Dues support SIH activities and supplies for the extra on-floor amenities available to SIH members.Close Section
The easiest way for current RIT students to apply to a certain SIH is to visit. Computer Science, Engineering and Photo Houses are located in Nathaniel Rochester Hall. Art, House of General Science, International, and Unity Houses are located in Colby Hall. Even if you're not sure about applying, come up for a tour!

SIH's provide much more than a traditional club or academically focused floor. The personal connections between SIH members make Special Interest Housing a unique and extraordinary RIT experience.Close Section
