RITchie’s

RITchie’s, run by the Residence Halls Association (RHA), offers students a fun place to hang out and watch widescreen TV, play billiards, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, PS2, and Xbox 360. RITchie’s staff work with other groups and departments on campus to promote various programs, such as the ever popular Free Laundry Night and pizza socials for residents. RITchie’s is located in the tunnels in Gibson Hall and is open until 2am during the week and 3am on the weekends.

Each SIH resides on their own floor in the residence halls, however, the community extends to off-floor members. These members may live anywhere on or off RIT's campus and they are entitled to the same benefits and are held to the same responsibilities as an on-floor member.

There is way more to Special Interest Houses than studying. While academics are a key part of Special Interest Housing, socializing and being an active member is very important as well.

Each SIH has varying amounts of dues. They range from $45 to $105 per year. Dues support SIH activities and supplies for the extra on-floor amenities available to SIH members.

The easiest way for current RIT students to apply to a certain SIH is to visit. Computer Science, Engineering and Photo Houses are located in Nathaniel Rochester Hall. Art, House of General Science, International, and Unity Houses are located in Colby Hall. Even if you're not sure about applying, come up for a tour!
