Student Health Center

Allergy Injections

February 3, 2012

Over the past several years, it has become clear that administering allergy shots in our clinic environment does not afford optimal safety for our students. The Student Health Center at RIT will no longer offer allergy immunotherapy beginning in Fall Quarter 2012. We recognize that continuing allergy immunotherapy on campus has provided a convenience to those students who receive this treatment. In an effort to assist students and families in accessing care in the local community, the Health Center has identified allergy specialty offices, which offer high quality care and with whom we have partnered in the past. Some practices have several offices, which may offer an option to access care in a location more convenient to the individual student. Some family/individual insurance plans may identify a provider in Rochester which is the preferred allergy care office, so consulting with your insurance carrier is a recommended first step.
