Allergy Injections

The SHC administers allergy injections to students, faculty and staff by appointment during specific allergy clinic hours. Clinic hours may vary quarterly. If the patient is unable to keep the appointment, the SHC must be notified ahead of time so the appointment may be rescheduled. A No Show fee will be charged for appointments missed without prior notification. Please note: initial injections must be administered in an allergist's office.

What do you need from my allergist?

  • Allergy extract vials clearly labeled with patient's name, contents and expiration date

And the following written information:

  • Dosage and schedule
  • Allergist's instructions including changes to be made if: dose is given late, starting a new vial of extract or there is a reaction with the previous injection
  • Date and dose of most recent injection
  • Documentation of any previous reactions

What do I do to start getting my allergy shots at the SHC?

  • Provide information and extract(s) from your allergist as outlined above before your first appointment
  • This information must be reviewed by the Medical Director before an initial allergy injection can be given.
  • Review and sign an Administration of Allergy Immunization Form which addresses the 30 minute wait time (or longer per allergist's instructions) after injections.
  • Schedule an appointment during allergy clinic hours (475-2255)
  • Pay fee for service if applicable

What if I am late for my shot?

Allergy injections must be given according to specific time intervals to be safe and effective. When injections are not on schedule, it is your responsibility to:

  • Contact your allergist's office and request they call the SHC with late instructions as well as following with written instructions
  • These calls should be made to the allergy nurse Monday-- Friday 8:30 am-4:00 pm (call 475-7949 and ask to speak with the allergy nurse). Fax written instructions to 585-475-7788.
  • Reschedule your allergy appointment
