Marissa Fox, 5th Year, Electrical Engineering
My name is Marissa Fox and I'm a 5th year Electrical Engineering student. I joined TRiO in my fourth year of academic studies and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. When my grades feel due to a bad quarter at the end of my fourth year, TRiO was there to get me back on track. They provided me academic tutors, as well as various workshops to work on my study techniques. I'm very grateful for TRiO for helping me become the successful engineering student I am today.

My name is Laura and I'm a third year medical illustration major. I joined TRiO when I was in my freshman year, when I was originally in biochemistry. They helped me a lot when that major fell through, and helped me every step of the way in my new major. Anything I needed, TRiO was there to steer me in the right direction. I'm not sure where I'd be without TRiO, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be succeeding at RIT without them.

I transferred to RIT as Junior from a Community College, which did not prepare me for the advanced level of courses that I would be taking at RIT. I was fortunate to have a mentor working with me through the TRiO SSS office at RIT because she quickly devised a plan of action to bring me up to speed. Among other things, the wonderful staff at TRiO provided me with a specialized tutor when I needed it, helped me find scholarships and is making sure I am on track for graduation. Working with TRiO is like having a support system, cheerleader and mentor all in one.

TRiO is much more than tutoring and guidance. It is an experience builder, kind friendly support, a leg up, breath of fresh air and a major reality check. TRiO specializes in showing you the light at the end of the tunnel, and make sure that you.re on the right path towards it. So, yes TRiO has taught me how to manage my time, study harder, and make the grade. Aside from being a better student they have also taught me how to be a better person.

The TRiO Student Support Services staff helped me realize these dreams by aligning me with the tutoring support and advising that proved to be a vital part of my success in Mechanical Engineering Technology. This success has led me to employment with the Department of Defense (Navy).
