Where
is the Women's Center?
The Women's Center is located in the basement of the Student
Alumni Union (Building 4), Room A510 (down the hall from the
RITskellar Cafe).
Why have a Women's Center?
- Women's
Centers exist because gender equity has still not been reached
in any country around the world.
- Women
earn less than their male peers, and women of color face
an even larger pay gap.
- Women
earn fewer graduate degrees than men and hold about 26%
of tenured faculty positions on American campuses.
- Violence
targeted against women is rampant in America with more than
half a million women reporting assaults by intimate partners
and four women dying each day as a result of domestic violence.
- We
still have lots of work to do!

Does the Women's Center provide counseling?
The Women's Center provides crisis intervention,
advocacy, support and education. The Women's Center
refers students to on and off campus resources when appropriate,
including (for example) the RIT Counseling Center, the RIT
Student Health Center, and Planned Parenthood.
Do men go to the Women's Center?
Absolutely! Male students, faculty & staff members frequently
come to the center to ask questions, talk and participate
in educational and volunteer opportunities.
If I have a problem is there someone there I can talk to?
There is always someone available to answer questions and
schedule appointments during open office hours from 8:30 am
- 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. If you have a problem and would
like to speak to someone on a one-to-one basis staff
members are available.
What is CARES?
The Campus Advocacy, Response, and Support Program
(CARES)
is a comprehensive program for victims of sexual assault,
relationship violence and stalking.
