All tutors can help with algebra, trigonometry and calculus courses. Many tutors are engineering students and will help with any level of physics. Other tutors are proficient in Discrete math. For a list of tutors, the hours they work and the courses they tutor in, click on tutor schedule and proficiency.
The ASC Math Lab is one of many tutor center on campus. To learn more about tutoring centers, finding a tutor or becoming a tutor, see www.rit.edu/tutoring.
Individualized Math Class
Classes are offered during Fall, Winter and Spring quarters. See the ASC Quarterly Schedule in print or online for more details. Students follow a unique program based on their math background and future math needs. Students work at their own pace with an instructor available to answer questions. They progress through a series of topics, taking quizzes to check their level of mastery for each topic. Class meets Monday – Thursday from 4:00 am – 4:50 am in Eastman 01-2372. Students must pre-register by calling 475-6944.
Trigonometry, Calculus I and Calculus II Technique Review Workshops
Review workshops are offered during week two of the Fall, Winter and Spring quarters. See the ASC Quarterly Schedule in print or online for more details. These sessions are designed for students returning to their calculus sequence after a co-op of summer break. Calculus Workshop I covers explicit and implicit differential techniques and is appropriate for students who have completed Calculus I or equivalent (214, 226, 231, 241, 251). Calculus Workshop II covers integration techniques for students who have completed Calculus II (215, 232, 242, 252).
Math Assessment
Assessment is provided for students requesting advice on placement in appropriate math courses or encountering difficulties in their math courses. Students may schedule an appointment with an ASC math instructor. Diagnostic testing is completed to determine areas of strength and weakness and a conference is held to help determine the best approach for the student. The results are evaluated and an appropriate course of action is recommended.
