This two-act play describes the lives of two post-WWI genocide survivors, Aram, age 21, and his picture bride, Seta, a teenage girl. It is a powerful human drama about loyalty to one's ancestors. The play revolves around their shared memories of a traumatic past, their ability to adapt in a foreign land, coping with the pressures of an arranged marriage, and seeking a renewed sense of belonging, family, and love. Aram and Seta's attempts to have children fail, and their lives seem barren until a boy, Vincent, enters their lives. He is an orphan and Seta adopts him immediately. Aram does not at first accept her decision and the resulting conflicts and struggles to find acceptance lead them to a process of redemption for all three. Through the course of the story, they are able to move beyond the past and look toward the future with renewed hope.
