Welcome to MSSE Master of Science Program in Secondary Education
of Students who are
Deaf or Hard of Hearing
This program is offered by the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, a college of Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. The program is open to deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people. MSSE is an exciting two-year program designed by experienced, seasoned teachers. Our students take part in a variety of coursework, field experiences, practicums, and independent projects, quickly developing technical competence and gaining confidence as teachers. MSSE offers opportunities to work with more than 20 NTID faculty and staff members as well as with professionals from the Rochester community. Our cadre of students and faculty work as partners in preparing top-notch educators. Graduates of this program will have dual certification: one in a secondary-level content area and the other as teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Rochester's large deaf community, the Rochester School for the Deaf, and numerous mainstream programs offer a rich array of resources for learning, working, and collaborating. If you plan to become a teacher of students who are deaf or hard of hearing, we hope you will consider MSSE for your graduate education.
