Your Mailing Address?
For prompt delivery of registration materials, grade reports and
billing information, please inform the Registrar's
Office when your mailing address has been changed. You may also
update your address on the Student Information System (SIS).
Dorm residents will automatically have a box number assigned by
the Center for Residence Life.
Address changes made in the Registrar's Office,
or on SIS update the addresses used by the Admissions, Alumni,
Student Financial Services, Co-op and Placement, Financial Aid & Scholarships, and Student Employment
offices.

IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU UPDATE YOUR HOME, LOCAL AND EMERGENCY ADDRESSES.
We want to make a very important request of all students. In the
past few years, we have experienced a number of student related
accidents and injuries that have required emergency notification
to their families. In many cases, we have not been able to make
timely notifications because the student did not have any information
in the emergency contact field in the Student Information System
(SIS) or the information that did exist was outdated. As a result,
we had to find other less efficient, and sometimes very time-consuming,
means of locating family members and/or appropriate emergency
contacts. We trust you all share RIT's concern that if you were
seriously injured or killed, you would want your family and/or
emergency contact notified of the situation as soon as possible
in a sensitive and caring manner. If we are to follow through
with this wish, we need everyone's cooperation.
First, we need each of you to make sure that the emergency address
field in the Student Information System (SIS) has the name and
permanent address of the person(s) you want us to notify regarding
any emergency/life-threatening situation in which you are involved.
This needs to be someone that legally can make a medical decision
on your behalf. In most cases, this would be your parents, guardians,
or a spouse/partner.
Within the Student Information System (SIS) there are six address
fields to choose from: 1) home; 2) next of kin; 3) 2nd emergency;
4) local (your RIT/Rochester address); 5) bill; 6) Second Home
Address. Please make sure that the address field titled "2nd emergency"
contains the name and address of the person(s) you wish to have
us notify in case of an emergency.

We
cannot stress enough the importance of having this field contain
the emergency notification information. None of us knows when
or if such information might be needed, and we want to ensure
that we have done everything possible to enable Institute officials
to provide timely and appropriate notification in case of an
emergency.
