Toyota Production Systems Lab
Toyota Engineering and Manufacturing
North America has donated $100,000 for the establishment of the
“Toyota Production Systems Laboratory” in Industrial and
Systems Engineering in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering.
Industrial and Systems Engineering faculty at RIT will work closely with
engineers from Toyota
on this development to incorporate the principles and philosophies of the
Toyota Production System. Dr. Andres Carrano will be leading the
creation of this hands-on, learning environment at RIT around these
principles. With this generous gift from Toyota, this lab will be developed over
the next year and will support a new required course, 0303-526 Design and
Analysis of Production Systems in Spring, 2008. The lab will also
support several other undergraduate and graduate courses across the
curriculum. , “We thank Toyota
for their support and look forward to working with them on this development
effort. Toyota is recognized as having
the “model” production system that companies across the world
have tried to emulate, so to be associated with Toyota in this way is an exciting
opportunity for the Industrial and Systems Engineering faculty and students
at RIT”, indicates Dr. Jacqueline Mozrall, Department Head of
industrial and Systems Engineering.
