of the Disaster & Emergency Management certificate program is
to offer an academically challenging program that provides governmental
and industrial emergency planners and emergency professionals with
the skills to respond effectively when disaster strikes.
Program
Educational Objectives:
Graduates
will:
- Attain increasing levels of responsibility
in their field of emergency planning or emergency response.
- Understand the nature of various disaster
situations and how to manage the emergency successfully.
- Be able to pursue additional certification
or registration in the field.
Beyond
Basic Training
Most
emergency professionals are trained in the procedures for successfully
managing the typical emergencies of their professions, such as a
house fire, bank robbery, or highway accident. But preparation for
responding to major emergencies, such as toxic chemical spills,
floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, and radiation accidents, is often
limited to a minimal overview. RIT’s Certificate in Disaster
and Emergency Management rounds out your basic training to give
you a true understanding of the nature of various disaster situations
and how to manage the emergency successfully.
