Cary press production earns distinction
A publication of RITs Cary Graphic Arts Press has earned a prestigious honor. Melbert B. Cary, Jr. and the Press of the Woolly Whale has been chosen as one of the best-designed books of 2002 by the American Institute of Graphic Arts. David Pankow, curator of the Cary Collection, is the books editor and also wrote the bibliography and preface. Jerry Kelly of New York City is the designer. The book documents the life of Melbert Cary Jr. and describes his love for books and bookmaking. Each year, AIGA selects the 50 best books and covers based on concept, innovation and visual elements. The winning entries are on display at the AIGA National Design Center in New York City through Oct. 31. |
