for Imaging Science Research From Medical Imaging to Remote
Sensing, from Silver Halide to Vision and Color, our faculty
members are always looking at the emerging trends in many
areas of imaging science.

Computer
Science House's Internet-Based Drink Machine The unique
aspect of our machine, however, is the fact that it does not
work on coin money. Instead, members have "credit" accounts
on the floor computer systems, and when logged in through
a terminal or a workstation, they can "drop" a soft drink
from the machine and have their credit updated accordingly.

The
Stonehurst Regatta RIT co-hosts this yearly competition
on the Genessee River. It has become a large campus and city-wide
event, open to collegiate crew teams from the United States
and Canada.

WITR RIT's student-run radio station is now broadcasting
live on the web via RealAudio! WITR covers almost all major
genres of modern music including Hip-Hop, Jazz, Reggae, Rock
Techno, Industrial, Ska, World Beat, Metal, Blues, Gospel,
and more.

Imaging
Permanence Institute This university-based, non-profit
laboratory is one of the few research organizations in the
world devoted to scientific research in the preservation of
visual and other forms of recorded information. The organization
also offers seminars for preservation specialists.

College
of Computing and Information Sciences - Thanks to a recent
gift by B. Thomas Golisano, founder and CEO of Paychex, Inc.,
RIT launched a new College of Computing and Information Sciences,
which will be home to RIT's departments of Computer Science,
Information Technology, and Software Engineering. The new
Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at
RIT is believed to be the largest and most complete computing
college in the country.

RIT
Inn - The RIT Inn is a generous gift of the Rochester
Marriott Thruway hotel and property on West Henrietta Road
by E.J. Del Monte Corp. to RIT. More than 300 RIT upper-level
undergraduate and graduate students will reside in double
premium quality rooms at the facility.
- The
IT Collaboratory - In May 2001, Gov. George Pataki announced
the making of a new STAR (Strategically Targeted Academic
Research) Center at RIT. The Information Technology Collaboratory
will focus on four areas of research: microsystems, photonic
systems, remote systems and high-bandwidth telecom networks.
- Public
Policy Degree Program - RIT's Public Policy program offers
several unique features including an accelerated five year
BS/MS option, an applied focus, and a choice of specializations.
This program provides an interdisciplinary education that
includes economics, history, political science, philosophy,
and sociology. Students at RIT will examine society-shaping
issues ranging from Internet privacy and technology access
to genetic engineering and global warming.

Bioinformatics
Option - RIT's Biotechnology program was the first undergraduate
program developed in the U.S. It is now taking a leadership
role in the emerging field of Bioinformatics. Often referred
to as Genomics, it uses technology to analyze huge amounts
of information gathered about human gene sequences and genetic
diseases.

RIT
Formula Team - RIT's Formula-car team captured fourth
place at international competition, in Birmingham, England.
Thirty-two schools from Canada, England, Finland, Germany,
the Netherlands, North Ireland and the United States raced.
The team is composed of 30 students who fabricate every part
and build the car.

Java
Wally's Cafe - Java Wally's, is offered as part of Wallace
Library for students, faculty, staff and visitors to RIT,
in partnership with Java's on Gibbs Street in downtown Rochester.
Java Wally's offers fresh gourmet coffee (made with Java Joe's
beans), tea, smoothies, baked goods and desserts while relaxing
in a casual, comfortable atmosphere.
