Key Student Services
Job
Search Advisement
Program
Coordinators in our office support specific academic units
and are available to meet on a one-to-one basis with students
and alumni on career and employment matters. These sessions
are critical to developing individual job search plans and
addressing the many questions and issues that arise during
the job search process. Call our office at 585-475-2301 to
make an appointment.
RIT deaf and hard-of-hearing bachelors
students may want to work with the staff of NTID in addition
to the Program Coordinators in our office. The
Center on Employment at NTID can provide additional information
on programs and services for those students.
Job
Development
We work hard to maintain and expand our working relationships
with employers in order to create co-op job opportunities
and to list job openings for our graduating students and alumni.
These opportunities are accessible through RIT Job Zone, our
web-based jobs database system.
Workshops/Info
Sessions
Our staff prepares co-op and graduating students for their
job search through courses, workshops and orientations. Topics
include: resume writing, cover letter writing, effective job
search strategies, interviewing techniques, professional dress
and etiquette, on-the-job success, and much more.
Walk-In
Hours
While appointments are encouraged, for your convenience in
handling quick questions or dealing with pressing issues,
walk-in hours are scheduled as follows:
Monday through Friday 9:30am - 11:30am,
afternoon hours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 1:30pm - 3:30pm.
One of our program coordinators is
on duty during these times to meet with you on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Walk-in hour sign-up is available at the
reception desk in our office.
Newsletters
The office sends out a student newsletter fall, winter and
spring quarters. Each issue includes job search tips, service
highlights, and news about upcoming career related events.
A special issue is sent on a quarterly basis to our students
out on co-op.
Work Abroad Program
We are working on establishing
contacts to assist students in obtaining meaningful work experiences
overseas – many that may be used for co-op credit. For
example, we are partnering with CDS to help students find
employment in Germany. If you have any questions about working
abroad, contact Maria Richart mjroce@rit.edu or Louise Carrese
at ltcoce@rit.edu. More information about working
overseas is available on our site.
Grad
School Info
Materials related to selecting and applying to grad schools
are available in our reception area. For assistance, make
an appointment to meet with Annette Stewart, our Program Coordinator
responsible for helping students through this process.
