The Tiger Spirit Fund was founded in 1991 by a group of concerned parents. The fund is dedicated to enhancing student life and learning. It helps support events that build character, leadership skills and school spirit. The funds are distributed for educational, social and athletic activities that encourage student/faculty/staff interaction.

For example, this Fund underwrites our Student Affairs Interactive Learning Grants, which are awarded for activities that complement classroom learning such as field trips to historic sites, plays or events related to a field of study. The entire campus also benefits from this fund, as it helps to bring in guest speakers and cultural events that are open to the entire campus community such as lectures, performing art and diversity series. It also underwrites travel costs for students who are invited to present papers at professional conferences or who participate in worldwide competitions such as the Mini Baja or the Formula SAE race car events.

Last year, parents and families of our students provided nearly $74,000 for many more "beyond the bricks" learning opportunities. Our entire campus community - especially our talented and hardworking students - are grateful for this amazing show of support!

Note:The name of the fund came from RIT's first mascot, a Bengal tiger named "SpiRIT." Go to RIT's TIGERPAGE to find out more about our tiger mascot.
