Instructional Technology Consortium (ITC): Scope, Roles & Responsibilities, Next Steps Scope: The NTID Instructional Technology Consortium (ITC) is a collaborative, faculty-driven initiative for enhancing teaching and learning with deaf and hard of hearing students through the use of technology and related innovative teaching strategies. The ITC will provide initial instruction and ongoing support for pedagogy and instructional technology at NTID with the following goals:
Roles & Responsibilities: ITC Members Members of the ITC will be drawn from across the college. College-wide self nominations, colleague nominations, and nominations from the NTID Faculty Congress and Staff Council Representatives will be sought. A member of the faculty from each of the NTIDs faculty centers will be appointed by the Dean of NTID (in consultation with the Center Directors) to serve on the consortium. Resource consultants from DIS, CRTL and the Learning Center Consortium also will be identified, as will a member of the greater university knowledgeable in the application of instructional technology. ITC members serve as a Steering/Implementation Committee. They facilitate two-way communications; representing the views, concerns, and ideas of members of their Centers in ITC planning and implementation and, as needed, assisting with ITC communications back to their respective Centers. They share and collaborate with one another in bringing the best thinking possible to the issue of encouraging and assessing the innovative application of instructional technology tools in service of productive learning throughout the college, all of higher education, and the field of deaf education. Current members serve through AY 2001-2002, pending approval of the ITC Proposal for AY 2001 & 2002 (with renewed appointment negotiable). ITC Coordinator The ITC Coordinator is charged by the CRTL Center Director as responsible for working collaboratively with the ITC Consortium in planning, implementing, and assessing ITC activities. In doing so, the ITC Coordinator ensures that the best thinking of the ITC Consortium, from a college-wide perspective, is reflected in plans and activities. The CRTL Center Director delegates to the ITC Coordinator administrative authority and accountability for programmatic, budget, staffing, and logistical decisions supporting ITC activities. The current ITC Coordinator serves through AY 2001-2002, pending approval of the ITC Proposal for AY 2001 & 2002 (with renewed appointment negotiable).
