The Academic Support Center provides services for all RIT and RIT/NTID supported Baccalaureate and Graduate degree-seeking students. Any NTID students enrolled in an associate’s degree program such as NTID’s AAS, AOS or AA program should first seek academic support from NTID’s Counseling and Academic Advising Services office.
Check out our Academic Success Workshop Series offered each academic term on such topics as time management, lecture note taking, text reading, and test preparation. All workshops are free to RIT students, faculty, and staff. Our 50 minute workshops are offered on Tuesdays at noon in Monroe 2020. Participants needing interpreting should submit requests through NTID Access Services. Please be sure to allow enough advance notice for Access Services to accommodate your request.

This hands-on course is designed for students interested in further developing their abilities in the specific areas of study skills and time management. Students enrolled in this course will gain a greater understanding of the learning process and will be able to identify and use strategies that meet their preferred learning style. Through assignments and a project, students will apply these strategies to their current credit courses to develop advanced proficiency as active learners. Additionally, students will receive support through individualized coaching sessions. Class discussion topics include textbooks and lecture notes, creating and using study aids, and test preparation. Additional topics will include self-management and time management techniques, organizational tools, and test taking/test anxiety strategies.
This course provides students an opportunity to gain foundational insight into their learning process and learn basic study strategies, how they are used, and why they are valuable. Through individualized coaching, journal writing, and presentation, students will set and monitor goals, reflect on their source(s) of motivation and learning process, and report progress on organization, time management, and study skills. Class discussion topics include the 10 scales found within the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI).
