Facilities Overview

RIT is home to some of the finest recreational facilities at the college level, today.

With recreational interests at an all-time high, we are fortunate to provide a variety of facilities, equipment and services to the RIT community. Approximately 550,000 participants take advantage of these programming opportunities at the Student Life Center and Field House every year!

Recreation Facilities and Hours

Our facilities are available to the RIT community for open play and recreation. Facility reservation requests can be made for recreational play, tournaments, and special events.

In response to requests from students, the Center for Recreational Sports has added two private all-gender locker rooms in the Student Life Center. Our team has worked closely with the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Resource Center to make the most appropriate accommodations for our RIT community.

These spaces have been designed to provide a safe and inclusive locker area for students, faculty, staff, or alumni who identify as transgender and/or non-binary, who have or are transitioning, or simply don’t feel comfortable changing in front of other people and want to use the space for a bit more privacy.

The spaces are located within the gender-specific locker rooms in close proximity to the fitness and aquatic centers. Each locker room is restricted by swipe card access and has three showers and toilets, two sinks, and a small bench. Please watch this video on how to access the locker rooms from the SLC Quarter-Mile entrance.

The all-gender locker rooms are private and secure, only available to those with swipe card access during facility business hours. Access to the all-gender locker rooms must be requested. If you would like to request swipe card access, email the Student Life Center Main Office.
