Reservation Requests

One or Two Hour Recreation Reservations Accordion

  • Reservations for all recreation facilities are granted through a priority system.
  • One or two hour requests should be submitted via the Facility Reservation System.
  • Groups of ten or more people are required in order for a reservation to be valid (with the exception of racquetball, indoor tennis, wallyball, squash or boxing room).
  • The majority of participants must have a current RIT membership.
  • Group reservation requests for general recreation activities can be made for up to two hours.
  • To request two courts for one hour, contact the SLC Main Office.
  • Group reservations must be made by 3:00pm one calendar day in advance and are accepted no more than seven days in advance. Requests will be reviewed within 24 hours for approval. Reservation requests are not confirmed until final approval has been received via email.
  • Racquetball, indoor tennis, wallyball, squash and boxing room reservations may be reserved no more than seven days in advance and are automatically approved. Reservations of this type are limited to one hour per day.
  • Boxing room reservations can be made for one or two 30-minute reservations per day.
  • Once you make a reservation, you will not be able to make another request until your first reservation has expired.
  • Requests for more than two hours or multiple reservation requests will be handled on an individual basis. These types of requests should be made ten business days in advance by completing a Special Event Request Form.

To request two courts for one hour in the SLC Main Gym or space in the Clark Gym:

To request space at the Ritter Ice Arena or Aquatics Center:

Racquet Sports, Wallyball and Boxing Room Accordion

  • Reservations for all recreation facilities are granted through a priority system.
  • Racquetball, indoor tennis, wallyball, squash and boxing room reservations may be reserved no more than seven days in advance and must be made through the Facility Reservation System. Reservations of this type are limited to one hour per day and are automatically approved.
  • Boxing room reservations can be made for one hour or two 30-minute reservations per day.
  • Once you make a reservation, you will not be able to make another request until your first reservation has expired. (Two 30-minute boxing room reservations scheduled back-to-back are exempt from this rule.)
  • Indoor tennis is located in the Field House. These reservations begin on the hour and are limited to 50 minutes per reservation. A 10 minute buffer is used to accommodate any necessary set-up requirements in-between reservations for this multi-purpose facility.
  • Requests for more than one hour or multiple reservation requests will be handled on an individual basis. These types of requests should be made at least ten business days in advance by completing a Special Event Request Form.
  • Badminton and pickleball are available in the SLC Main Gym on courts 2-5. Up to four nets can be set-up on each court, allowing for up to 16 players per court. Because reservation space is at a premium on these courts, 10 or more people are required to make a reservation for all activities. For groups less than 10, space is available on a first-come first-served basis.
  • Table tennis can be played in the SLC Main Gym on a first come, first served basis.

Special Event Requests and Forms Accordion

A request is considered a special event if one or more of the following conditions apply:

  • You are requesting more than two hours for your activity (including set-up/tear-down time).
  • You are requesting more than one facility or space.
  • Food will be served.
  • Support services may be needed (Tech Crew, tables/chairs, grill, trash cans, custodial).
  • An admission fee may be charged for participants and/or spectators.
  • Non-RIT participants may be attending.
  • Potential risks may be associated with your activity/event.

Special event request forms for the Clark Gym, Student Life Center and outdoor fields are available for internal and external groups. Requests for more than two hours or multiple reservation requests will be handled on an individual basis. These types of requests should be made at least ten business days in advance by calling the appropriate facility number or completing the appropriate internal or external reservation request form below.

Internal Event Request Criteria

  • In order to submit an internal request, you must be an RIT student or employee.
  • Your event (including setup and teardown time) is longer than two hours.
  • Your event is an RIT event, but non-RIT may be attending.

External Event Request Criteria

  • You are not a member of the RIT community.
  • You are member of the RIT community, but you are requesting space for a non-RIT group.
