Attend the five-day Microsoft Excel 2013: Create an Electronic Worksheet workshop June 13-17, 2016 at a cost of $500 at RIT/NTID in Rochester, NY. The workshop will be held daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.


Microsoft Excel is a powerful computer application tool that helps you to reliably and securely organize, manipulate, and graph numeric data at work or for personal use. This workshop will begin with the basics and gradually work up to a point where you will become a proficient user in Excel 2013.

This workshop is geared for the user who is already familiar with the basics of the Microsoft Excel software, this workshop discusses the following concepts: 

  • Financial functions, data tables and amortization schedules
  • Working with multiple worksheets and workbooks
  • Creating, sorting and querying a table
  • Working with trendlines, pivottable reports, pivotchart reports and slicers




Each participant should have previous experience with Microsoft Excel including: creating a worksheet and charts; using formulas, functions, and formating; and working with large worksheets and what-if analysis.

Instructor: Mike Kane

A member of the NTID Business Studies department instructional faculty since September 2006, Mike Kane has taught accounting-, Microsoft Office Excel- and personal finance-related courses to students pursuing associate-level degrees.  Kane is also a faculty advisor for the NTID Business Club.  Prior to RIT, Kane has worked in various executive accounting and business positions at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Western Pennsylvania, National Association of the Deaf (NAD), Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD), and South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners (SDBMOE).  Kane earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from RIT and two graduate degrees in administration (Gallaudet University) and deaf education (RIT).
