FROM THE PROVOST
Dear New Faculty Member,
Welcome to Rochester Institute of Technology! You are joining a wonderful community of outstanding and accomplished faculty during an exciting time of transition. Dr. David Munson, our new President, arrived July 1, and we anticipate his taking RIT to an even higher level. As RIT continues to garner national attention through our outstanding graduates, innovative programs, and international partnerships, your arrival will continue to strengthen our departments and colleges, and contribute to both new and continuing initiatives.
As a great way to “hit the ground running,” I encourage you to attend RIT’s New Faculty Orientation (NFO), designed and led by our dedicated Faculty Career Development (FCD) team. NFO will introduce you to information, resources, and support areas that are critical for your professional development and career success. NFO will be offered Wednesday, August 16, Thursday, August 17, and Friday, August 18; registration opens in July. By attending NFO I think you will find exactly what you need to join RIT’s vibrant academic community in your new faculty role.
NFO is just the beginning. FCD has designed ongoing faculty opportunities to promote networking with your new colleagues throughout the academic year like the Faculty Success Series that provides year-long opportunities to advance your career by growing your network, discovering resources at RIT, and enhancing your teaching and scholarship! Watch your email for details throughout the year or check FCD’s web site.
I expect the 2017-2018 academic year to be filled with discovery, achievements, collegiality, fulfillment, and hopefully some fun along the way! I look forward to meeting you!
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
New Faculty Orientation is hosted by Faculty Career Development Services, in collaboration with the Innovative Learning Institute, Human Resources and the Office of Faculty Recruitment. We hope you enjoy the event and have already Hit the Ground Running!
