RIT Resources for New Faculty
NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
RIT provides all entering students with programs designed to prepare them for a successful transition and adjustment to college life and to further acquaint them and their families with the RIT community. Our programs provide undergraduate students the opportunity to:
- Meet the faculty and dean of the student's college
- Address the academic and social issues involved in beginning college or transferring from one college to another
- Attend academic planning sessions
- Learn about student services
- Understand the family's role in promoting student achievement and success
- Learn about financing a college education
- Participate in community and social activities
Our five-day Freshman Orientation Program is offered prior to the start of classes and attendance is required. Transfer students may attend an optional five-day program, offering three different levels of involvement, just prior to the start of classes. Welcome programs are also offered for students starting in the winter and spring quarters. Additionally, we run DiscoveRIT, optional pre-orientation programs that take place just prior to fall orientations.
