PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

The Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) is a multi-faceted department which services the parking and transportations needs of the RIT community. We are committed to establishing a positive relationship with all customers while providing quality customer service.

PARKING

All personal vehicles operated on campus by students, faculty, and staff must be registered within ten days of arrival. You do not need to be the owner of the vehicle to register. The registration process can be performed online or in person at the PATS office.

RIT honors ADA approved handicap permits from every state. Handicap parking permits can be obtained at your local municipality. Local residents can apply for a permit at the Town of Henrietta. The parking office can issue a one week temporary handicap permit until you obtain one from the government authorities.

We understand that navigating a large campus that provides parking for thousand of students, employees and visitors daily can be challenging at times. RIT has a limited number of parking spaces and therefore has certain parking policies & procedures in place to guide the RIT community to a safe and orderly parking experience. You can read more about RIT’S parking policies and procedures at: http://www.rit.edu/parking.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is offered via an RIT shuttle to all RIT resident students during the fall, winter, and spring academic quarters. A limited transportation model is offered during break weeks and the summer academic quarter. Included in the transportation model are trips to local retailers for the convenience of our students to do some shopping. RIT faculty and staff may also use this service throughout the year. Schedules may seen online at:http://www.rit.edu/parking

An additional offering is an Accessible Van Service to assist mobility impaired students who may need extra time or assistance to attend classes. This extra service is offered during the fall, winter, and spring academic quarters. On a limited basis, faculty and staff may also use this service. Contact the parking office to discuss if this is needed.

The PATS office is located in Grace Watson Hall and is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. during the Academic Year (summer hours may vary). Detailed information on all our services and your rights can be found at http://www.rit.edu/parking.

During the past few years improved bicycle paths and bicycle parking facilities have been added to the campus as part of an overall strategy to improve alternative transportation modes. There is a continued effort to increase alternative modes of transportation as the campus continues to grow and embraces sustainable practices such as: carpooling, public transit use, improved walking paths, and modified parking spaces. PATS will keep the campus community informed as new plans are developed.
