Materials Science Lab Location: 2140 Gleason Description/Projects: Materials Science Lab experiments utilize many different types of testing equipment including: Tensile Testers to determine material properties such as the Modulus of Elasticity and the Yield Strength of a material. Hardness Testing equipment is used to determine the hardness of different metal alloys. Rockwell, Brinell, and micro-hardness testing equipment are used. Polishing equipment is used to prepare metallographic specimen for analysis under magnification. Impact Testing equipment allows students to determine the amount of energy required to fail a metal test specimen. Students who use this lab, often go into careers in Automotive, Aerospace, Electronics, Military, Optics, and Telecommunications among many other industries People involved:
