Int'l Student Pre-Departure Orientation Sessions

USIEF conducts PDO (Pre-Departure Oreintation) sessions each year in July at four different locations in India.

The PDO will assist you in better preparing for & understanding educational, social, & cultural life in the US.

Topics to be covered:

  • the last month in India
  • traveling to the US / port of entry
  • US geography / climate / time-zones
  • first week on campus
  • culture-shock
  • academic life
  • socio-cultural adjustments
  • practical & useful information for living in the US, and more.

The panelists include American students & professors, Indian students who have returned after completing their degrees (grad / undergrad) in the US, and visa officers.
