GRADUATE STUDENT ORIENTATION AND WELCOME RECEPTION

August 27, 2008

We’re pleased that you have decided to join our Graduate Student community here at RIT, and invite you to join us at the RIT Graduate Student Fair and Reception, Wednesday, August 27, 2008
2:00pm - 5:30pm, Student Alumni Union.

You will have the opportunity to meet our staff, faculty and students, learn about our community and the services available to you, and speak with representatives from such areas as Alumni Relations; Campus Connections (college bookstore); Cooperative Education and Career Services; Financial Aid and Scholarships and Student Financial Services; Parking and Transportation; Registrar’s Office; Student Affairs; Wallace Library; Housing and Residence Life; Health Services, Graduate Enrollment Services; Catering and Food Services, as well as Rochester area services.

RIT President, William Destler, and Dean of Graduate Studies, Andrew Moore will welcome you, and you'll have the opportunity to meet representatives from your academic department, and other graduate students at RIT.

ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT ORIENTATION

Some departments also offer orientation programs, meetings, exams, and programs for new graduate students in their department. We will send additional information about these orientations as it becomes available.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION

All international students must attend the International Student Orientation Program. This program provides information on programs and services offered by the International Student Services and other RIT Offices. Information sessions cover topics such as employment in the U.S., immigration information, health care and health insurance, U.S. tax obligations, safety concerns, and U.S. Social Security Numbers. At International Student Orientation, you will meet the PALs (Peer Advisor Leaders). PALs are current RIT International and American student volunteers who will help answer your questions and assist you in getting settled at RIT. International Student Orientation dates for the 2008 - 2009 academic year:

·   Fall Quarter (2008-1) - International Student Orientation: August 23-24, 2008

·   Winter Quarter (2008-2) - International Student Orientation: Wednesday December 3, 2008

·   Spring Quarter (2008-3) - International Student Orientation: Wednesday March 3, 2009

·   Summer Quarter (2008-4) - International Student Orientation: Wednesday June 3, 2009

ONLINE LEARNING ORIENTATION
Orientation information designed to prepare students for their coursework is sent to students officially registered for an Online Learning course about three weeks before the quarter begins. Click here for more information.
