Student Alumni Alliance

The Student Alumni Alliance is comprised of a select and diverse group of students that serve as ambassadors within the university’s student and alumni communities. Members are passionate about all things RIT and eager to engage with the alumni community by representing RIT to our more than 145,000 alumni.

Members will grow their networks, gain valuable career skills, promote/create campus traditions, and implement programs that increase student awareness of the Alumni Association with the goal of supporting the transition from student to alumni.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Student Alumni Ambassadors connect alumni, current and future RIT Tigers through a variety of ways, which include:

  • Assist in diverse programs, both online and in-person, such as regional events, webinar, reunion, Brick City Weekend, among others.
  • Speak at events and be highlighted during programs and campaigns.
  • Create new RIT traditions for fellow students.
  • Interact and provide feedback to the Alumni Association Board about current student interests, needs, and priorities.
  • Spread awareness to other students about the alumni community, Tigers Connect, and the programs and philanthropic efforts offered by RIT University Advancement.

Members will participate in any of the following committees:

  • Membership - Focused on recruiting new diverse members every semester and professional development within the organization.
  • Marketing - Charged with keeping our social media channels up to date and promoting several initiatives.
  • Engagement & Traditions - Creating RIT traditions for students and opportunities to meet alumni. 
  • Philanthropy - Focused on educating the student populations on the true meaning of philanthropy.

Become a Member

The Student Alumni Alliance is always looking for new members at the beginning of every semester. To apply, you must have the following qualifications:

  • Be a full-time student.
    • Undergraduate, can be on co-op during their involvement.
    • Graduate, enrolled in at least one class per semester.
  • Have a minimum of a 2.75 GPA, cumulative.
  • Must be able to participate in at least a full academic year, following their acceptance into the organization. Graduating students may only apply in the fall semester of their final year.
  • Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the university.
