As anyone who has worked with them already knows, the RIT Production Services staff are truly an exceptional resource on campus. Always busy behind the scenes of our events and projects, Production Services creates compelling web, audio, video, graphic and online content to share the stories of RIT and our students with the world each and every day.

They have received well-deserved accolades for this work, in the form of 14 Telly Awards since 2011. The video series “Hear From Our Students” provides a glimpse into the lives and academic careers of eight RIT students. You may recall recent student videos featuring past Student Government President, Taylor Deer, and NTID/CHST graduate Amy Lucero, whose profiles were featured at past Commencement ceremonies. The collection was initiated in 2011 and has received awards every year since.

Joe Bellavia, producer, director, and editor at RIT Production Services, led the production of the video series, which were recognized by the Telly Awards in the categories of Promotional Schools/Colleges/Universities, Motion Graphics, Internet/Online Commercials, Recruitment, and Editing. Additionally, one video was awarded the People’s Telly, in recognition of the best videos as selected by the online community.

To give you some perspective on the competition they were facing, Silver Telly Award winners for this year include BET Networks, Bloomberg, Bravo, Conde Nast Entertainment, Dell, Discovery, Disney, ESPN, FOX, Coca-Cola, Warner Bros., and other well-known companies.

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, web commercials, videos, and films. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected international competition and receives over 12,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries.

Please join me as I applaud the achievements of Joe and his team in Production Services. Well done!
