Step 1:

Receive nomination from your home campus for exchange to RIT.

Step 2:

Meet with your home campus international office to review application documentation, costs and courses.

Step 3:

Send your application and supporting documentation by March 15, 2019.

Step 4:

Your application will be reviewed at the RIT campus and final decissions, or any follow up questions, will be communicated by Monday April 5, 2019.

Step 5:

The RIT International Student Services Office will proceed to issue your I-20. Once these documents have been issued we will e-mail you a digital copy of it so you can confirm all the information on it is correct. Expect to receive this e-mail by Tuesday, April 30. Once you confirm the information is correct, we will proceed to send it via FedEx to your home campus or alternate address so you can apply for the F-1 student visa at your home US Embassy or Consulate. 

Step 6:

While your I-20 is getting processed, you will receive communication from the  RIT Exchange program coordinator regarding the following:

  • How to apply for housing
  • Information of requirements from the Student Health Center
  • Information regarding medical insurance
  • Instructions on how to sign up for International Student Orientation
  • Instructions for your arrival to Rochester

Step 7:

You will notify the RIT Exchange program coordinator as soon as your visa is approved. You will then send the coordinator detailed information of your arrival to Rochester. You need to send this information no later than Wednesday, July 31.

The RIT Exchange staff will continue to assist you with any questions and concerns you may have before arrival.
