Comics Studies Lecture Series Brings Artists and Authors to Campus

Several authors and artists visited campus during the academic year as part of the Comics Studies Lecture Series through SOIS:

  • Adam Kubert  
    Marvel Comics artist and RIT medical illustration alum Adam Kubert visited campus during fall semester. He spoke with SOIS faculty member Daniel Worden about his career in superhero comics and narrative art to a standing-room-only crowd in the University Gallery on November 16.
  • Caitlin Cass 
    Buffalo-based comics artist Caitlin Cass gave an artist's talk about her comics series Great Moments in Western Civilization on January 26. Caitlin also participated in SOIS's Making Comics workshop as a visiting artist and instructor. 
  • John Porcellino
    Indie comics giant John Porcellino gave a reading from his new book From Lone Mountain on April 10. John is the creator of King Cat Comics, one of the longest-running comics zines in the United States. 
  • Caitlin Yarsky 
    Comics artist and RIT illustration alum Caitlin Yarsky returned to campus this spring, to have a public conversation with SOIS faculty member Daniel Worden about her new Image Comics series Coyotes
