Donna Burnette joins RIT as the director of the RIT K-12 University Center. Donna will continue the strategic K-12 coordination and planning work begun by Chan. McKenzie who retired in August. She also oversees the K-12 Partnership Program Office and Kids on Campus.
Donna has dedicated her professional career to work that encourages and supports youth from various backgrounds--including and especially those from underserved and historically underrepresented groups--to pursue education and careers in STEM.
Educated at MIT and Virginia Tech, Donna most recently served as the program director for a $52 million STEM initiative at Virginia Tech that served more than 40,000 youth annually through a portfolio of competitions, internships, and hands-on programs offered throughout the country.
Prior to that she worked with middle school and high school youth from the Rochester City School District as the director of the Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP) at Monroe Community College and at Le Moyne College in Syracuse.
